Was sind die Aufgaben ihrer Gesellschaft?

Das Hauptziel der DPG Hannover besteht darin, die interessierten Deutschen und Polen über politische, gesellschaftliche, ökonomische sowie kulturelle Entwicklungen in Polen zu informieren und somit zum Abbau von Vorurteilen beizutragen. Wichtig ist uns, dass diese Entwicklungen vor dem europäischen und globalen Kontext gedacht werden.

Wann und wie wurde sie gegründet?

1979 in Hannover. Die Initiative ging von dem damaligen OB Herbert Schmalstieg, Albrecht Riechers (dem ersten und langjährigen Vorsitzenden der Gesellschaft) sowie einigen anderen Personen aus.

Vor welchem Hintergrund wurde sie gegründet?

Der Kontext war zweierlei: die parallel laufende Gründung der Städtepartnerschaft zwischen Hannover und Poznań sowie das Bedürfnis, sich mit dem zweitgrößten Nachbarn der BRD (nicht zuletzt infolge der gesellschaftlichen Entwicklung in Polen, z.B. der Wahl von Karol Wojtyla zum Papst) näher zu befassen.

Wie trägt die Gesellschaft zum Zusammenleben der Menschen bei?

Durch Veranstaltungen, Vorträge und Lesungen. Im Jahr 2009 haben wir unser 30. Jubiläum gefeiert (u.a. mit einer Podiumsdiskussion, an der zwei Studierende jeweils aus Hannover und Poznań teilnahmen. Thema: "Deutsche und Polen 20 Jahre nach der Wende: gemeinsame Interessen, globale Herausforderungen." In diesem Jahr haben wir bereits folgende Veranstaltungen angeboten:

- April 2010: Seminar mit Kurzvorträgen und einer Podiumsdiskussion: "Russland, Polen, Europa - Kontrahenten oder Partner?
- Juni 2010: Lesung mit Matthias Kneip.

Am 30. Juni (Volkshochschule, 19.00 Uhr) findet außerdem ein Vortrag "Polen nach den Präsidentenwahlen" statt.

Gibt es ein bundes-/europaweites Netzwerk solcher Organisationen?

Ja, das ist der Bundesverband, der dreimal jährlich ein deutsch-polnisches Magazin "Dialog" veröffentlicht.

Wie finanziert sich ihre Organisation?

Aus Mitgliedsbeiträgen (41 Euro jährlich pro Mitglied) sowie Spenden.

 

Über die Gesellschaft

Die Gesellschaft wurde 1979 gegründet, um einen Beitrag der Verständigung und dem damit verbundenen Frieden zu leisten.

Sie ist unabhängig von jeder politischen Richtung und bietet Aktionen an wie Diskussionen, Reisen, humanitärer Hilfe sowie den kulturellen Austausch und die Förderung zur zwischenmenschlichen Kommunikation.

What is the task of your association?

The main task of the German-Polish association in Hanover is to inform the interested German and Polish people about political, social, economical and cultural developments in Poland and therefore help to the breaking down of prejudices. It is important for us to bring these developments to an European and a global context.

When was the foundation of the association?

1979 in Hanover. It was the initiative of the former mayor Herbert Schmalstieg, Albrecht Riechers (who was the chairman for a long time) and some other people.

What was the background of the foundation?

There were two contexts: the contemporaneous foundation of the partnership between the cities Hanover and Poznań as well as the need to concern with the second biggest neighbour of the FRG.

How does the association contribute to the communal life?

With events, lectures and readings. In the year 2009, we celebrated our 30th anniversary. There, we had a panel discussion with two students from Hanover and Poznań. The topic was “Germans and Poles 20 years after the political change: common interests, global challenges.” In this year, we already offered these events:

- April 2010 seminar with short lectures and a panel discussion about: “Russia, Poland, Europe – opponent or partner?  

- June 2010 lecture with Matthias Kneip

And in July 2010: We will talk about Poland after the election.

Are there other associations in Germany/Europe?

Yes, there is the federal association which publishes the magazine “Dialog”.

How is the association financed?

With membership subscriptions (41 €/year) and donations.

The German-Polish association Hanover was founded in 1979, to contribute to the understanding of the two countries and to bring the connected peace. It is independent from every political party and offers discussions, travels, humanity help and cultural  exchange as well as the support of  interpersonal communication.
