Tandem means transborder youth exchange between Germany and Czech Republic. Since 1997 the two Tandem-offices in Regensburg (DE) and Plzen (CZ) aim at connecting young people from Germany and Czech Republic.  The Tandem-team coordinates German-Czech youth projects and supports teachers and youth leaders who are interested in their neighbouring country.

Tandem is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Family, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth and the Free States of Bavaria and Saxony. It is independently operated by the „Bayerischer Jugendring“.  The coordination centre in Plzen is connected to the West Bohemian University and is funded by the Ministry for School System, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic.

Both coordination centres cooperate with the German-Czech Youth Council which is the highest board on bilateral level. Representatives of Ministries and youth organizations of both countries meet here once a year.
